The South Metro Community Foundation (SMCF) is proud to announce its receipt of three new grants totaling $14,450. They are:
A grant from the Gilson Family Foundation in the amount of $10,000 will assist in providing navigators to youth in foster care to ensure that they have housing when they “age-out” of care at the age of 18, and so that they get the training/education needed for work.
The Littleton Rotary Foundation has provided an additional $2,000 for navigation services. These services will be provided in cooperation with Advocates for Children/CASA in the 18th Judicial District.
And third, the City of Littleton has provided a partnership grant of $2,450 to help fund a free community forum on the issues faced by youth in foster care. The forum is expected to be held on the morning of October 10 and will include former foster youth telling their stories.
Susan Thornton, chair of SMCF, said the Foundation is very grateful for the support from three nonprofits, noting that it should improve outcomes for foster care youth. SMCF is a community-supported, 501(c)3 organization nonprofit. To learn more, visit www.SMCFinfo.org.
